ASTM WK56177

New Practice for Estimating the Environmental Persistence of Materials Using First Order Rate Constant Calculations

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: D34.03 | Committee D34 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Scope

1.1 This practice specifies the procedure for the calculation of first order rate constants and using that calculation to estimate the environmental persistence of materials.

Estimating how long a material is expected to remain in a specific environment is important in understanding the expected long-term environmental impact and the potential for accumulation over time. This standard provides a standardized method for calculating a first order rate constant and applying that calculation to estimate the persistence of the material.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
