1. Scope
Discussion: need for a standard to determine the coefficient of thermal expansion of geosynthetics.
Keywords
coefficient of thermal expansion, geosynthetic, temperature, dimensionsRationale
D696 is not appropriate for products exhibiting a large cellular structure or flexible materials such as reinforced geomembranes. The proposition is to use a hybrid between ASTM D696 and D1204, where large specimens are exposed to different temperatures in specified conditions. The dimensions are measured under different temperatures to determine the coefficient of thermal expansion.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
