ASTM WK53376

    Revision of F2291 - 15 Standard Practice for Design of Amusement Rides and Devices

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: F2291 - 17

    Developed by Subcommittee: F24.24 | Committee F24 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

    In the past, some Inspectors for the Local Authority Having Jurisdiction have used ASTM F2291, FIG. 2 Restraint Determination DiagramAccelerations in Design Stage, for checking that the appropriate restraint class is installed on a ride. While the application of this figure has always been intended as a design guide only, the Acceleration Task Force committee thought that it was prudent to provide guidance on verifying the appropriateness of the restraint system using measured data rather than leaving this to individual interpretation. To align with the new draft of EN 13814 and ISO 17842 the following language is proposed for the non-mandatory appendix.

    acceleration limits; amusement ride or devices; anti-rollback devices; chain; clearance envelope; containment; control systems; design; electrical; emergency safety device; fasteners; fatigue; fencing; guardrails; hydraulics; impact factor; loads and strengths; mechanical systems; operational hours; pneumatics; restraints; ride analysis; welding; wire rope;;
