ASTM WK53089

New Specification for Special Inspection of Sprayed Fire-Resistive Materials

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: E36.10 | Committee E36 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Scope

1.1 The purpose of this specification is to establish requirements for the Special Inspection of Sprayed Fire-Resistive Materials (SFRM) in conformance with the Test Methods and Standard Practices of ASTM and the International Building Code (2015 IBC), including methods for field verification and inspection and laboratory testing, as reflected in the approved project documents. 1.2 This standard addresses SFRM as listed in the International Building Code and the referenced ASTM Standards. 1.3 This standard provides requirements so a Special Inspector can verify that the required SFRM on a project has been installed and that their installations are in accordance with the approved project documents. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.5 The text of this standard references notes and footnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of the standard.

ASTM does not have a Standard on the Special Inspection of Sprayed Fire-Resistive Materials But is a required service in most buildings
