    1. Scope

    1.1 This specification addresses mechanically attached polymeric roof underlayment used on steep slope roofing. 1.2 The objective of this specification is to provide a finished product that will resist the passage of liquid water, even if left exposed for a period of up to 30 days before roof covering is installed. 1.3 Polymeric roof underlayments have different levels of water vapor permeance and the selection of material for roof applications is at the discretion of the specifier. In applications in which water vapor permeance data are required, the product manufacturer shall provide the data upon request including the test method and procedure used. 1.4 Units--The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
