ASTM WK51322

    Revision of D2726 / D2726M - 14 Standard Test Method for Bulk Specific Gravity and Density of Non-Absorptive Compacted Bituminous Mixtures

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D2726 / D2726M - 19

    Developed by Subcommittee: D04.21 | Committee D04 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK51322

    Keywords

    air voids; compaction; density; specific gravity; unit weight;

    Rationale

    The current method of density determination requires the samples to be heated at high temperature prior to obtaining dry weight. Drying samples at high temperature (110 C)can effect the integrity and could possibly damage the samples. Drying samples at high temperature is not practical for samples that are needed for performance testing. Samples that are dried at high temperature cannot be used for performance testing. In this ballot several drying options are provided for density determination of samples that are going to be used for performance testing and samples that will have to be sealed due to high water absorption.
