    1. Scope

    1.1 PurposeThis guide describes best practices for the development and use of performance tests in language interpreting referencing the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale. This guide focuses on assessing language transfer, and on the skills and associated behaviors which individual interpreters demonstrate when interpreting successfully. 1.2 LimitationsThis guide is not intended to address the test development and use in the areas of: Translation, Audio Translation, Transcription, other job-specific language performance tests, or Diagnostic Assessments. 1.2.1 This guide is not intended to cover the activities of organizations who deliver interpretation services.
