ASTM WK47146

Revision of D6897 - 09 Standard Test Method for Vapor Pressure of Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) (Expansion Method)

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D6897 - 16

Developed by Subcommittee: D02.08 | Committee D02 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

The reference source pertaining to the pentane VPtot (70 C) value stated in section 11.5 as 310 kPa is not documented in the method, whereas many labs (including the instrument vendors) have empirical data indicating that the reference value should be 316 kPa. At the June 2014 ASTM SC8.D meeting it was decided to revise the method to change the 310 kPa value to 316 kPa in section 11.5, based on data from the instrument vendors that was reviewed while maintaining the tolerance limit of 6.0 kPa as stated in section 11.5.1 the same to address this issue.
