ASTM WK44391

New Practice for Construction of Porous Asphalt Pavements with Stone Reservoirs

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: D04.23 | Committee D04 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Scope

1.1 This practice covers the design and construction of plant-mixed porous asphalt pavements over a stone reservoir consisting of single-size clean crushed aggregate. 1.2 Units-The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

Porous asphalt pavements are growing in popularity as one method to manage stormwater runoff and quality. There is a need to develop a guide to assure the proper construction of these pavements.
