    1. Scope

    1. Scope 1.1 This guide provides technical information related to understanding the features, types, materials, and benefits of various types of security fasteners and guidance in the selection and application of security fasteners in detention and corrections facilities. 1.2 UnitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard.

    This standard is needed in the Detention and Correctional Facilities industry to assist contractors in identifying the appropriate fasteners to usue in these facilities. Fateners used ensure that inmates cannot remove the fasteners. Alos, to assist in identifying the appropriate replacement fasteners for repair / maintenance work.
