ASTM WK43257

New Test Method for Testing the Tensile Bond Strength of an Adhered Stone

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: C18.01 | Committee C18 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Scope

1.1 This quantitative field test method is used for determining the tensile bond strength of adhered dimension stone and other similar materials bonded to a substrate. This test method also provides a protocol for documenting and reporting the adhesive coverage between the adhered stone and substrate. 1.2 Units--The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

tensile bond strength test; adhered bond strength test; stone bond strength test:

No standard currently exists for pull testing of in-place adhered veneer.
