    New Test Method for Long-Term Efficiency of Drainage Systems Utilizing Geocomposites

    1. Scope

    1.1 This test method is a performance test that is intended to determine the ability of a planar drainage sysem using geosynthetics to resist biological, chemical, or mineral clogging over a giver period of time. 1.2 The ability of a planar drainage systemusing geosynthetics to resist biological, chemical, or mineral clogging is assessed by observing the performance of all the components in one single experiment. 1.3 This test method cannot be used for determination of the biological or chemical clogging reduction flactors of a geocomposite (RFbc or RFcc) as the transmissivity of the geocomposite is not monitored over time. 1.4 This test method can be used for research and product comparison, that is, to assess, for example, the long-term efficiency of a biocide treatment applied on a product and be able to compare its performance to a nontreated product. 1.5 This test method can be used a screening test to compare the performance of different products against clogging by a site-specific leachate, an acid solution, or a brine solution in specific boundary conditions and for a determined duration. 1.6 The values in SI units are to be reageded as the standard.
