1.1 This specification covers requirements and test methods for annular corrugated profile wall polyethylene pipe manufactured from polyethylene materials containing recycled content and fittings. The pipe and fittings have a smooth interior liner with inside diameters ranging from 4 to 60 in. [100 to 1500 mm]. 1.2 The requirements of this specification are intended to provide nonpressure (gravity flow) pipe and fittings suitable for underground use for nonpressure storm sewer and subsurface drainage systems. NOTE 1-Pipe and fittings produced in accordance with this specification are be installed in compliance with Practice D2321. 1.3 This specification covers pipe and fittings with an interior liner using an annular exterior corrugated profile (FIG 1). 1.4 Units-The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents: therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

The standard is necessary because there are currently no standards for corrugated PE pipe with the necessary performance requirements to satisfy storm drainage applications. The intent of this standard is to provide a minimum baseline for material and product performance characteristics to ensure product meets intended service performance. This standard will be used by pipe manufactures as a quality control standard and will be used by construction project designers where underground storm sewer systems are implemented.
