    Interlaboratory Study 702 was conducted to establish a precision statement for D4944, Field Determination of Water Moisture Content of Soil by the Calcium Carbide Gas Pressure Tester. This Round Robin Test was conducted by the Florida Department of Transportation (FLDOT) at their State Materials Office in Gainesville, FL. Specifically a round robin test program was conducted June 14, 2007 by eight DOT technicians determining water contents of processed soil using calcium carbide gas pressure testers (commonly called �Speedy Moisture Tester�) and comparing to an oven dried determination using portions of each test specimen. The FLDOT permits the use of nuclear gauges for determining the wet density of compacted earthworks; however, with the exception of aggregate base material, the associated in-situ water content is determined with the use of a gas pressure tester of the type specified in ASTM D4944.
