Pre-register for Committee(s) Meeting(s) - There is no fee to attend an ASTM Meeting but one must register (note that this does not register you at the hotel).

PREREGISTRATION

You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card and receive an electronic confirmation.

When you preregister online you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, June 19, 2013. After this date please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Fairmont QE Montreal.


HOTEL INFORMATION

All meetings will be held at the Fairmont QE Montreal, 900 Rene Levesque Blvd., West, Montreal QC Canada H3B 4A5. Reservations may be made by telephoning the hotel at 514-861-3511. To make your hotel reservation on-line, visit Reservations at the Fairmont QE Montreal. Select your dates and proceed as instructed. If you need assistance with your hotel reservation call the hotel directly at 514-861-3511.

Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than May 17, 2013. Reserved rooms may be SOLD OUT prior to the cut-off date.. ASTM rates are $164 CDN single/double plus 15% tax (you must mention ASTM in order to receive a group rate). You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date.

IMPORTANT! ASTM rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

ADVANCE DEPOSIT: Fairmont QE Montreal requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation.

CONFIRMATION NOTICES: The Fairmont QE Montreal Reservation Center will provide you with a confirmation number.

CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Fairmont QE Montreal notice of cancellation must be received by 4:00pm on the day of arrival.

INTERNET: The Fairmont QE Montreal internet in guest rooms at $16.04 CDN for 24 hour service.

ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM is providing computers with an internet connection. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members work area only. The meeting rooms throughout the hotel will not have internet connections.

AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE: This link provides information on travel from Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport the Fairmont QE Montreal Public Transportation from Airport to Fairmont QE Montreal. Taxis cost approximately $40 CDN.

PARKING: Overnight parking is available at $24.00 for valet or self-parking with in and out privileges.


ASTM TRAINING SESSIONS

ASTM will provide several training sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

  • Workshop: Committee D02 New Member Orientation
    Monday, 7:00am - 8:00am
    Wednesday, 7:00am - 8:00am

    This orientation will include an overview of ASTM and the organization and structure of D02. Learn about your role and responsibilities as a new D02 member. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. All members, especially new members and visitors, are encouraged to attend. The orientation will be presented by James Simnick, Committee D02 First Vice-Chairman.

  • Workshop: Introduction to the Interlaboratory Study Program (ILS)
    Monday, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
    Tuesday, 3:00pm - 4:00pm
    Wednesday, 8:00am - 9:00am

    This module is designed to familiarize members with the ILS Program, its features, benefits, capabilities, and the online registration process. Accessed via the "Members Only" pages of the ASTM Website, you will be guided through a complete ILS registration, highlighting the information that will be requested in the process. Research Reports will also be specifically addressed during the session. This program will benefit anyone planning to run (or participate in) an interlaboratory study to generate a precision statement for a new or existing ASTM test method. Presented by Phillip Godorov and Caitlin Farrell, ASTM ILS Staff.

  • Interlaboratory Studies (ILS) Question and Answer Sessions

    In addition to the ILS Workshop schedule above, several ILS Q&A Sessions have been planned with ASTM ILS Staff. Please feel free to drop in and ask questions about the brainstorm ideas for your upcoming interlaboratory studies. ILS Representatives will also be available to review the status of your current interlaboratory studies and help plan for the nex steps. Sessions are open to all, and no appointments are needed.

  • Workshop: Balloting and Handling Negative Votes
    Tuesday, 7:00am - 8:00am

    This session will inform members on how to effectively move documents through the ASTM balloting process, from initiating a subcommittee ballot through main committee and Society review. A review of the role of COS (Committee on Standards) is included. In addition, learn to get positive results from negative votes! Special focus on the procedural handling of negative votes throughout the balloting process. The workshop will be presented by Michael Collier, Committee D02 Second Vice-Chairman.

  • Workshop: "Is it in Spec, or Not?"
    Tuesday, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

    This workshop will discuss how test method reproducibility (R) should and should not be used in the determination of product conformance to specification. Principles in D 3244 Practice for Utilization of Test Data to Determine Conformance with Specifications will be discussed. The workshop will be presented by Alex T. Lau, Chairman D02.94 Coordinating Subcommittee on Quality Assurance and Statistics.

COMMITTEE ACTIVITY FEES

Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount, encourages your contribution, and can be paid on-line in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


COMPLIMENTARY SUPPORT SERVICES

Committee Week Meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers. We also have an editor on-site to assist you with the form and style of standards, editorial changes and first drafts of standards.


SPOUSES' HOSPITALITY

Join us for coffee and breakfast pastries Monday through Wednesday from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Fairmont QE Montreal. A representative from the Montreal Convention and Visitors Bureau will be on hand with information on what to see and do in Montreal. DRESS/WEATHER

Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for Montreal. The average temperatures in June range from a high of 70 degrees to a low of 50 degrees.


MISCELLANEOUS

Please advise the hotel and ASTM of any disability which will require special attention. The Fairmont QE Montreal is in compliance with ADA standards.
