A Workshop on ASTM Standard Test Method G65 for Measuring Abrasion Using the Dry Sand/Rubber Wheel Apparatus will be held Monday, November 2, 2009 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Sponsored by ASTM Committee G02 on Wear and Erosion, the workshop will be held at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio, in conjunction with the November 2-3, 2009 standards development meetings of the committee. ASTM Standard Test Method G65 for Measuring Abrasion Using the Dry Sand/Rubber Wheel Apparatus is the most widely used test method developed by ASTM Committee G02. Recent issues regarding sand and rubber wheels have resulted in considerable discussion within the industry regarding this test method. The committee is considering making revisions to the test method, and this workshop is being held to identify these issues that need modification. Users of this test method can help to identify areas of the test that seem to have the greatest influence on test results and repeatability. This information will be used to make possible changes in the method. Who Should Attend Users of this method should attend to better understand the operation of the equipment, the availability of wheels and abrasives, and to network with others using this test method. Program The program will consist of the following presentations: - Evaluating Different Rubbers for Use with the Dry Sand Test Machine, Ken Budinski (Bud Labs)
- Factors Affecting Test Results, Brian Merkle (NanoSteel)
- Current Data on Hardness of Recent Batches of Rubber Wheels, Troy LeValley (Falex)
