Sponsored by ASTM Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices, the symposium will be held at the Sheraton in Phoenix, AZ in conjunction with the May standards development meetings of Committee. Objective The purpose of this Symposium is to provide a forum for consensus development and scientific exchange on the needs for characterization and standardized testing related to MoM hip replacement devices. The main focus of this Symposium is to address unmet standardization needs and to help establish best testing practices in the four following areas:
The language of the symposium will be English. Online registration opens approximately 8 weeks before the symposium and closes May 2, 2012. The fees to attend this symposium are listed below. These fees include: Students – A student's fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID. The waived fee includes admission to the technical sessions, but does not include the STP described above. All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the symposium. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at symposium. Symposium attendees interested in receiving 0.7 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the symposium, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the symposium. Additional information about the symposium is available from Symposium Co-Chairmen: Steven M. If you need assistance with your hotel reservation call the hotel directly at 602-262-2500. Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than March 31, 2012. ASTM rates are $160 single/double plus 13.7% tax (you must mention ASTM in order to receive a group rate). You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full. U.S. GOVERNMENT RATES: The Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate of $128. IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency. ADVANCE DEPOSIT: Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation.
