ASTM International's Committee E61 on Radiation Processing is pleased to announce that the Eighth International Workshop on Dosimetry for Radiation Processing will be held at Keble College, Oxford University, Oxford, UK August 3-7, 2014.
The workshop follows the very successful seven previous workshops given in North America and Europe. The eighth workshop will be similar in format to the previous workshops which focused heavily on hands-on activities that enforce the practices identified in our standards.
This workshop will provide an optimum combination of plenary presentations, hands-on practical exercises in which all attendees are expected to participate and informal "roundtable" sessions. Please plan to register early, as we expect to reach our limit of 60 technical participants quickly. Attendees will be accepted on a "first-register, first-serve" basis.
Scope and Objective
Standards published by ASTM International's Committee E61, many of which are also recognized as ISO standards, will form the basis for the discussions and hands-on exercises. This workshop will cover aspects of dosimetry for radiation processing that can be applied to the processing of food and agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, medical products, inks, packaging, polymers and radiation research. Attendees will use hands-on activities to reinforce the standard practices identified in ASTM standards. The objective is to improve the quality of dosimetry through a better understanding of dosimetry principles, factors influencing dosimeter performance, calibration techniques, dose mapping, and statistical process control.
Who Should Attend
This workshop is intended for those individuals responsible for their organization's radiation process including the dosimetry program or irradiation research. This would include individuals who are irradiator operators, dosimeter suppliers, healthcare products manufacturers, food processors, regulatory personnel, inspectors, etc. Attendees will have the opportunity to bring their questions to leaders in the radiation processing field. The workshop format is designed to provide maximum interaction between participants resulting in mutual benefits for all.

Space in the workshop is limited to 60 registrants. Registration closes June 30th, 2014 or when the 60 registrants cap is reached. The fees to attend the workshop are listed below. These fees include registration, accommodations (arriving on August 3rd and departing on August 8th), a tablet computer containing all course materials, Sunday evening reception, all meals including the Thursday Banquet dinner, coffee breaks, site visits, and a 1-year membership to ASTM*. All participants are expected to stay for the full workshop.
The companion fee to attend the Thursday evening banquet is $45.00.
The registration fee for delegates that do not require accommodations would be $1920.00 for an ASTM Member and $1995.00 for a Non-Member. This fee includes all of the items above excluding accommodations and breakfast.
All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the workshop. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at the Workshop.

Workshop attendees interested in receiving 3.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the workshop, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the workshop.
