SCHEDULE

To view your committee schedule, use the convenient link on this meetings page. Approximately two weeks prior to the meeting, meeting room names will be added to the schedule.


PREREGISTRATION

You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card and receive an electronic confirmation.

When you preregister online you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

The cut-off for preregistration is June 20, 2012. After this date please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.


HOTEL INFORMATION

SPEICAL NOTICE

We encourage you to make your reservation as soon as possible.

The Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina has rooms available on certain days. Please call the hotel directly to make a reservation at 619-291-2900 or 877-734-2726

OVERFLOW HOTEL - A block of rooms is available at the San Diego Hilton Marina Airport Hotel, 1960 Harbor Island Dr., San Diego, CA 92101 (Saturday, June 23 - Friday, June 29). The rate is $199 single or double. Reservations can be made by calling the toll free number, 1-800-445-8667. Please advise the Reservation Agent of the Group Code: ASTM. The group rate will be available until June 6th. Transportation will be provided.

Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than June 14, 2012. ASTM rates are $199 single/double plus 12.65% tax (you must mention ASTM in order to receive a group rate). You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.

U.S. GOVERNMENT RATES: The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate of $133.

IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

ADVANCE DEPOSIT: Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina and the San Diego Hilton requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation.

CONFIRMATION NOTICES: The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Reservation Center will provide you with a confirmation number.

CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, you will be told the cancellaton rules at the time you make your reservation.

INTERNET: The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina provides wired and wireless high speed internet access in guest rooms at $11.95 per day.

ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM is providing computers with an internet connection. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members work area only. The meeting rooms throughout the hotel will not have internet connections.


TRANSPORTATION AND DIRECTIONS

AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE: Free transportation to and from the hotel is provided. Shuttle buses run from 5AM to Midnight every 15-20 minutes. Taxis cost approximately $6.

PARKING: Overnight parking is available at $30 for valet and $22 self parking with in and out privileges.


ASTM TRAINING SESSIONS

ASTM staff will provide several training sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

  • Responsibilities for Subcommittee Chairman, Task Group Chairman and Technical Contact (Tuesday) 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    Recently taken on the role of a subcommittee chairman, task group leader, or technical contact in your committee? This training module will provide an overview of the duties and responsibilities associated with each role. We will also navigate the ASTM website to review available resources that will assist you in your standards development work. Several tools that will be discussed are work items registration, collaboration areas, submitting items for ballot and scheduling a virtual meeting.

  • Developing and Revising an ASTM Standard (Wednesday) 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    During this joint Technical Committee Operations and Editorial module, we will review both new and revised standards as they go through the development and publication process. We will cover how standard ideas are introduced, drafted, and publicized as well as review ASTM's electronic tools and time-tested techniques for accelerating the development of your standard. Included in the workshop will be a brief review of work items registration, the three stages of balloting, and an explanation of the key roles of your editor and the standard's technical contact.

  • Presentation on Standards Videos, Value-Added Content, and Online Product Initiatives (Monday) 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    A brief overview and demonstration of ASTM's value-added content initiatives including standards videos, checklists, fill-in forms, training quizzes, etc. This session will also cover ASTM's upcoming enhancements to the online product platform including taxonomy, indexing, facets, customer tools, image library and ePub versions of standards.

Refreshments will be available at all sessions.

COMMITTEE ACTIVITY FEES

Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount, encourages your contribution, and can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


SPECIAL ACTIVITY

Please purchase your tickets online in advance if you plan to attend any events. Your tickets will be available on-site at the registration desk.



COMPLIMENTARY SUPPORT SERVICES

Committee Week Meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers. We also have an editor on-site to assist you with the form and style of standards, editorial changes and first drafts of standards.


MEMBERS BREAKFAST

Join your elected officers and staff for a continental breakfast on Wednesday at 7:00am sharp at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. At this breakfast, you will hear an update on ASTM and have an opportunity to ask questions or share your comments. You may pick up your ticket at the ASTM Registration Desk.


SPOUSES' HOSPITALITY

Join us for coffee and breakfast pastries Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. A representative from the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau will be on hand with information on what to see and do in San Diego. DRESS/WEATHER

Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for San Diego. The average temperatures in June range from a high of 71 degrees to a low of 61 degrees.


MISCELLANEOUS

Please advise the hotel and ASTM of any disability which will require special attention. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina is in compliance with ADA standards.
