    About the Event

Presentations are invited for a Workshop on Multiaxial Fatigue & Mixed Mode Fatigue Crack Growth to be held November 13, 2014, 8:00AM - 5:00PM. Sponsored by ASTM Committee E08.01 on Research and Education, the workshop will be held at the Sheraton in New Orleans, LA, in conjunction with the November standards development meetings of Committee.

    Objective

ASTM committee E08.01 is sponsoring a workshop on multiaxial fatigue and fatigue crack growth as well as mixed mode fatigue crack growth testing. Areas of interest include modeling methods as well as characterization procedures for combined mode I, mode II and mode III fatigue, fracture and mechanical testing, under uniaxial or multiaxial loading. The purpose is to identify and explore existing test methods and to highlight a need for mixed failure mode characterization of metallic materials so that they may be included in relevant ASTM standards. Given that an ASTM testing standard exists on axial-torsion testing (E2207), this workshop also intends to attract more presentations on cruciform testing. In addition, researchers interested in applications of mixed-mode test data and development of mixed-mode crack growth and fracture criteria are also encouraged to respond. This workshop is an opportunity to learn about both new and existing test techniques as applicable to mixed mode loading fatigue, fracture or mechanical testing standards.

Presentations on any of the following areas are desired.

    • Test Specimen design, calibration, and measuring techniques for multiaxial and mixed mode testing
    • Characterization Approach for materials subjected to Multiaxial and Mixed Mode Loading
    • Mixed Mode Failure Criterion and Similitude Exploration
    • Testing Automation techniques for use with Crack Path Uncertainty
    • Application methodologies for mixed-mode analysis
    • Application of Multiaxial and Mixed-Mode Testing (for fatigue and damage tolerance design as well as and life assessment)

The language of the Workshop will be English.

    Solicitation of Presentations
