PREREGISTRATION

You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card, and receive an electronic confirmation. You may register online at the "Register" link above.

When you preregister online, you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements, and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, December 3, 2014. After this date please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.


HOTEL INFORMATION

All meetings will be held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, 1380 Harbor Island Drive, San Diego, CA 92101. Reservations may be made by via our online reservation system at Sheraton San Diego Reservations.

Select your dates and proceed as instructed. Reservations may also be made by telephoning the hotel at (619) 291-2900 (you must mention ASTM in order to receive the group rate.) If you need assistance with your hotel reservation, please call the hotel directly.

Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than Wednesday, October 29, 2014. ASTM rates are $169 plus 12.565% tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.

The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate of $142 plus 12.565% tax. You must present your ID at the front desk upon check-in. To make your reservation, please use the following link: Government Rooms.

IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

ADVANCE DEPOSIT: The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation.

CONFIRMATION NOTICES: A confirmation number is provided to you electronically once your reservation has been submitted.

CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, notice of cancellation must be received 72 hours prior to the day of your arrival.

Check the ASTM website for updates on overflow hotel room availability.

INTERNET: The hotel offers wireless connections in the guest rooms at a cost of $11.95 per day. There is complimentary internet service in the lobby of the hotel.

ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area only. The meeting rooms throughout the hotel will not have internet connections.


TRANSPORTATION AND DIRECTIONS

AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE: The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina provides complimentary San Diego airport shuttle service to/from the San Diego International Airport. The courtesy airport shuttle arrives every 20-25 minutes from 4:45am - Midnight, seven days a week. Please call 619-291-2900 to arrange your San Diego airport shuttle transportation. Taxis cost approximately $7-$10.

PARKING: Parking is available with rates of $24 for self-parking and $32 for overnight valet parking.


ASTM TRAINING SESSIONS

ASTM will provide several training sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

  • Workshop: Committee D02 New Member Orientation Workshop
    Monday, 7:00am - 8:00am
    Wednesday, 7:00am - 8:00am

    This orientation will include an overview of ASTM and the organization and structure of D02. Learn about your role and responsibilities as a new D02 member. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. All members, especially new members and visitors, are encouraged to attend. The orientation will be presented by James Simnick, Committee D02 First Vice-Chairman.

  • Workshop: Introduction to the Interlaboratory Study Program (ILS)
    Monday, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
    Wednesday, 8:00am - 9:00am

    This module is designed to familiarize members with the ILS Program, its features, benefits, capabilities, and the online registration process. Accessed via the "Members Only" pages of the ASTM Website, you will be guided through a complete ILS registration, highlighting the information that will be requested in the process. Research Reports will also be specifically addressed during the session. This program will benefit anyone planning to run (or participate in) an interlaboratory study to generate a precision statement for a new or existing ASTM test method. Light refreshments will be provided. Presented by Phillip Godorov and Caitlin Farrell, ASTM ILS Staff.

    In addition to the ILS Workshop schedule above, several ILS Q&A Sessions have been planned with ASTM ILS Staff. Please feel free to drop in and ask questions about the brainstorm ideas for your upcoming interlaboratory studies. ILS Representatives will also be available to review the status of your current interlaboratory studies and help plan for the next steps. Sessions are open to all, and no appointments are needed.

    This workshop will provide a demonstration of ASTM's new petroleum training products including videos, concept presentations, outlines, datasheets, and quizzes. Topics discussed include the selection process, how the videos are produced, the review process, and how the products can be accessed and future development plans.   • The Sydney D. Andrews Scroll Achievement Award Luncheon
    Tuesday, 12:00pm - 1:30pm

    The Sydney D. Andrews Scroll Achievement Award will be presented to Randy Jennings at a luncheon. Please register online in advance of the meeting. Congratulations to Randy for this recognition by Committee D02.

    The ASTM International Petroleum Lab Technician Training Package

    The ASTM International Petroleum Lab Technician Training Package is designed to empower our clients with valuable technical content to ensure quality and develop professional proficiency. ASTM has worked with a development and design team of industry professionals to identify the most applicable content to include in the training package to ensure relevance and value. We have recently developed our cutting edge online portal: ASTM Compass to not only deliver content but also to provide enhanced functionality to ensure that your employees can understand, adopt, and apply changes made to ASTM Standards.
    ASTM is committed to continuing to add material to the Petroleum Lab Technician Training Package. We recognize how vital it is to keep our content up to date in a dynamic environment in which some 40% of all ASTM Standards update annually. We have the infrastructure in place to keep all materials (standards and training modules) in the package current as content continually evolves.

    Hosted by the API Test Methodologies Work Group Presenter: Joe Sopata of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Followed by Question and Answer Session.


  • COMMITTEE ACTIVITY FEES

    Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount and encourages your contribution. The activity fee can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


    SPECIAL ACTIVITY

    Several committees hold planned banquet events. You now have the ability to purchase your tickets online in advance on the preregistration page. Your tickets will be available on-site at the Registration Area.



    COMPLIMENTARY SUPPORT SERVICES

    ASTM meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers. We also have an editor on-site to assist you with the form and style of standards, editorial changes and first drafts of standards.


    SPOUSES' HOSPITALITY

    Join us for coffee and breakfast pastries Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 9:30am. A representative from the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau will be on hand with information on what to see and do in San Diego.     DRESS/WEATHER

    Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for San Diego. The average temperatures in December range from a high of 65 degrees to a low of 48 degrees.

    Please advise the hotel and ASTM of any disability which will require special attention. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina is in compliance with ADA standards.
