Manuals
Manuals are practical books offering the reader hands-on, applied information.

They are heavily illustrated, contain a good deal of useful advice, and include detailed references for complete background information. Some Manuals offer “behind-the-scenes” details on ASTM standards—how the standards were developed and why including their significance and use. They illustrate tips for conducting tests, and practical advice. The “How to...” series of Manuals has been particularly successful.

Manuals are excellent field, laboratory, and instructional tools, often applied in varying classroom venues. Many are used in ASTM training courses. Manuals are also popular in university settings.
