    1. Scope

    This laboratory test method describes a procedure to evaluate the efficacy of copper and copper alloy non-food contact surfaces in reducing bacterial contamination and build up on a continuing, ongoing persistent basis, following repeated exposures to the test organisms.

    The document establishes a procedure for verifying the antimicrobial sanitizing characteristics of copper as it might apply to any touch surface with the intent of elimination of pathogen contamination of surfaces, particularly in health care related environments. This is on an ongoing, persistent basis, following repeated exposure to the test organisms.
