1. Scope
This document will describe how to use NIST Reference Scaffolds in cell culture testing. We anticipate 2 rounds of round robin testing to validate the procedure.
WHY: This standard will provide a very specific protocol for use in assessing cell adhesion and proliferation in NIST reference scaffolds. ASTM 2739 addresses how to measure cells in 3D scaffolds from a generalized perspective. This work item will develop a very specific protocol that can be rapidly implemented by users without extensive trouble shooting. The document will provide a consensus on a specific test to concisely transfer the experiences of many experts to the user. HOW: This document will be used by users to rapidly implement a protocol for measuring cell adhesion and proliferation in a 3D scaffold using the NIST reference scaffolds as controls. WHO: Users are those involved in TEMPs development including industry, academia and government.
