Work Item: ASTM WK37659 - New Practice for Conducting Equivalence Testing in Laboratory Applications

Developed by Subcommittee: E11.20 | Committee E11 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

1. This standard provides guidance on statistical methods for evaluating equivalency of test methods in a laboratory with respect to bias, where equivalence is defined as being in sufficient agreement with respect to test results. 2. The methodology may be extended to agreement between laboratories conducting the same test method, and to performance of instruments, reagent sources, and analysts within a laboratory. Equivalence testing is being used by other ASTM committees and in many industries to qualify laboratories, test methods, instruments, and other activities involving comparison for bias.
