Work Item: ASTM WK32143 - New Test Method for Visual Assessment of Water Beading on Horizontal Coatings

Developed by Subcommittee: D01.42 | Committee D01 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Scope

1.1 This test method provides a rating scale for the visual assessment of water beading on horizontal architectural coating systems such as deck finishes and floor coatings. The water beading ratings may additionally be applied to any horizontal coating/substrate systems. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. This test method will allow for a practical assessment of water beading in which contact angle determination is not critical. This test method is intended for use by architectural coatings formulators who wish to assess differences in water beading between different formulations or comparison products.
