How You Will Benefit

The results of ASTM Test Method D3241, Standard Test Method for Thermal Oxidation Stability of Aviation Turbine Fuels, are indicative of jet fuel performance in the gas turbine engines as it relates to assessing the levels of deposits from the fuel contact with heated surfaces. These ratings are based on the ability of the operator to judge the deposits on test coupons (heater tubes) to a color standard (ADJD3241). This workshop will give the participants valuable hands-on experience and needed feedback from the workshop leader.
Topics Cover:

* Explanation of the significance of ASTM D3241

*The test method with focus on critical operating characteristics

* The standard heater section of the instrument

* Hands-on rating of D3241 heater tubes using light boxes

* Interaction with other participants in the workshop to better understand the rating process
Who Should Attend

* Laboratory personnel who perform ASTM D3241, Thermal Oxidation Stability of Aviation Turbine Fuels

* Laboratory managers responsible for test results from this test method

* Regulatory personnel that need an understanding of the significance of the test results of the test method

* New engineers that participate in the manufacture of aviation turbine fuel

About ASTM and Committee D02

ASTM is one of the world's largest voluntary standards development organizations. ASTM standards have grown to be among the world's most widely used and accepted documents. The 82-volume Annual Book of ASTM Standards (available online and in print) contain over 12,000 standards written by 34,000 members on our 140 technical committees. The standard referenced in this course was developed by Committee D02 on Petroleum Products, Liquid Fuels, and Lubricants. For information on Committee D02, contact Alyson Fick at (610) 832-9710 or go to our D02 technical committee page.
