This test method may be used to measure the effectiveness of water resistant treatments of light leathers such as glove and garment leather that have no finish. It can also be used to measure the water absorption capacity of insole materials thus providing a gage for predicting foot comfort or discomfort.

1.1 This test method covers determining the degree of wettability of a leather surface. This test method does not apply to wet blue.

1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The SI units given in parentheses are for information only.

1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
