Abstract

This specification covers spun cast prestressed concrete poles for use as structural supports for streetlights, traffic signals, and transmission, distribution, and communication lines. The acceptability of the poles shall be determined by the results of full-scale bending and torsional tests. The requirements for the following are specified: (1) materials such as cement, aggregate, water, chemical admixtures, steel, and inserts; (2) general requirements including concrete cover, circumferential wire, grounding, exterior surface treatment, and prestressing; and (3) loading requirements. Load test procedures for bending and torsional tests are detailed. Sets of fabrication and detail drawings shall be furnished as prescribed in this specification.
