ABOUT THE EVENT
A Workshop on Sustainability of Road and Paving Materials will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Sponsored by ASTM Committee D04 on Road and Paving Materials, the workshop will be held at the Marriott Waterside Tampa in Tampa, Florida, in conjunction with the December standards development meetings of the committee.
Sustainability is becoming a primary consideration in the construction of homes, commercial buildings and other structures. This workshop will consider sustainability as it relates to the design, construction, rehabilitation and testing of road and paving materials. Presentations will describe the activities of ASTM D04 relative to sustainability; sustainable uses of asphalt pavements, including porous pavements and warm mix asphalt; recycling existing asphalt pavements; sustainable aggregates for use in asphalt pavements; and the EPA perspective on sustainable paving materials. A concluding panel discussion will allow for questions and comments from the audience. This workshop will provide a concise summary of the state of the practice and the future of sustainable road and paving materials and practices.
Who should attend? The workshop will be of interest to those involved in production, design and testing of paving materials, pavement and site designers, agency personnel and others concerned about environmental sustainability.
