The Third International Symposium on Tribo-Corrosion will be held April 19-20, 2012. Sponsored by ASTM Committee G02 on Wear and Erosion, the symposium will be held at Georgia Institute of Technology, in conjunction with the April 18, 2012 standards development meetings of Committee.

Objective
The 2012 International Symposium on Tribo-Corrosion is the third such event to be held worldwide, but the first one of its kind to be held in the United States. The focus of this multi-disciplinary forum is to bring together basic and applied researchers who are addressing the challenge of understanding how surface degradation processes like mechanical wear and chemical attack (corrosion) interact with each other. Over forty scheduled presentations will span broad technology areas – from dental and body implants to industrial machinery, and from seals and bearings to nuclear power plants. ASTM Committee G02 on Wear and Erosion is proud to sponsor Tribo-Corrosion 2012 in conjunction with its spring business meetings at the Georgia Institute of Technology (GATECH) in Atlanta. The Committee G2 meeting will be held on 17-18 April, and the symposium will follow it on 19-20 April, beginning with a welcome reception in the evening of 18 April.

The language of the symposium will be English.

Online registration opens approximately 8 weeks before the symposium and closes April 11. The fees to attend this symposium are listed below. These fees include:

-the Wednesday evening reception (cash bar), Renaissance Hotel, "High Ballroom C", 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM EDT
-the Thursday and Friday luncheon and
-the AM and PM coffee and refreshments breaks with snacks

Students – A student's fee is waived for the technical information sessions, provided that he/she is a full- time student and is not employed full time. There will be a minor fee for the breaks and luncheons that will occur during the event. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID.

All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the symposium. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at symposium.

Symposium attendees interested in receiving 1.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the symposium, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the symposium.
