Title: Symposium on "Idea to Impact: How Building Economic Standards keep you on Track"
Dates: Sunday October 05 2014
Location: Sheraton New Orleans; New Orleans, LA
Event Name: October 2014 Committee Week
A Symposium on "Idea to Impact: How Building Economic Standards keep you on Track" will be held Sunday, October 5, 2014. Sponsored by ASTM Subcommittee E06.81 on Building Economics, the symposium will be held at the Sheraton New Orleans, New Orleans, LA, in conjunction with the October standards development meetings of Committee E06.
The purpose of the Symposium is to demonstrate the benefits of ASTM Economic Standards and how these standards can help the economic performance of engineering projects. ASTM's suite of E06.81 standards provides a comprehensive framework for measuring and managing the economic performance of buildings and other constructed facilities over their entire life cycle. The Symposium will demonstrate how to use the framework and will describe how the various E06.81 standards fit together and reinforce each other. The E06.81 standards framework is organized around four topic areas: (1) cost data presentation and analysis; (2) value engineering; (3) risk management; and (4) economic evaluation.
Up to 10 papers will be presented. The case studies will cover buildings and other infrastructure. The speakers will be introduced by one of the E06.81 Subcommittee members. The introduction will include a brief description of the standards that were applied in the case studies.
The language of the symposium will be English.
A technical program (presentation times, paper titles, and presenters' names) will be posted on the ASTM website by April.
