    ABOUT THE EVENT

    Presentations are invited for a Workshop on Nonmetallic Inclusion Rating to be held Wednesday November 14, 2012. Sponsored by ASTM Committee E04 on Metallography, the symposium will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, GA, in conjunction with the November standards development meetings of Committee.

    Call for Presentations
    The topics may include, but are not limited to, the following subjects:

    - Current status of E04 standards: E45, E1245, E2283; their uses and abuses, applicability issues, etc.
    - Use of other related standards (ISO, EN, DIN, JIS, etc.).
    - New developments in inclusion rating, especially those using automated image analysis tools.
    - Use of inclusion rating as a tool for quality control, process improvement, and/or failure analysis in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
    - The use of inclusion rating in fatigue life prediction of steel parts.
    - The future of inclusion rating - where are we headed?

    This workshop may be of interest to the following group, though any interested individual from the general public is encouraged to attend:

    • Metallurgist
    • Metallographer
    • Manufacturing Engineer
    • Academia
    • Research Scientist/Staff

    With the author's permission, the presentation or the written report based on the presentation will be made available for download on ASTM E04?s website, but it will not be officially published by ASTM in either print or electronic form.

    If possible, there will be some inclusion rating equipment/software demonstration, exact time to be announced. All image analysis software manufacturers are encouraged to participate in the demo session.

    REGISTRATION INFORMATION

    Online registration opens approximately 8 weeks before the workshop and closes November 7, 2012. The fees to attend this workshop are listed below.

    Students – A student's fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID.

    All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the workshop. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at workshop.

    CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS

    Workshop attendees interested in receiving 0.7 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the workshop, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the workshop.

    HOTEL INFORMATION

    All meetings will be held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, 265 Peachtree St., NE, Atlanta, GA 30303. Reservations can be made by telephoning the hotel at 800-233-1234.     Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than October 10, 2012. ASTM rates are $149 single/double plus 16% tax (you must mention ASTM in order to receive a group rate). You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.

    U.S. GOVERNMENT RATES: The Hyatt Regency Atlanta has a limited number of rooms at the Government per diem rate of $133.

    IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

    ADVANCE DEPOSIT: The Hyatt Regency Atlanta requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation.

    CONFIRMATION NOTICES: The Hyatt Regency Atlanta Reservation Center sends confirmations by email.

    CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, notice of cancellation must be received by 3:00pm, 24 hours prior to arrival date.

    INTERNET: The Hyatt Regency Atlanta provides internet access throughout the hotel at a cost of $12.95 for 24 hours. ASTM provides complimentary internet access in the Members Work Area.

    AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE: Link Airport Shuttle Service is available at the ground transportation terminal. The cost is $16.50 one way and $29 round trip. Taxis cost approximately $35.

    MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) - From inside Hartsfield International Airport, MARTA runs Monday thru Friday from 5:00am thru 1:00am every 20 minutes and on weekends and holidays from 5:00am thru 12:30am every 25 minutes. The cost for MARTA is $2.50 one way.

    PARKING: Valet parking is available at $32 per day with in and out privileges.


    DRESS AND WEATHER

    Members have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for Atlanta. The average temperatures in November range from a high of 63 degrees to a low of 41 degrees.
