 ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

The Future of D4169 Workshop will be held Monday, October 31, 2011. Sponsored by ASTM Committee D10 on Packaging, the workshop will be held at the Marriott Waterside in Tampa, Florida, in conjunction with the October standards development meetings of the committee.

Objective

A year ago, new task groups were formed to review and potentially revise portions of the performance testing standard D4169 Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems. Their tasks were to review data from 1995 to the present to learn if new data is available concerning the various hazards in distribution, including handling, vibration, stacking, rail switching and environmental hazards. Presentations are being planned at this Workshop to present the review of the data and recommended revisions for updating the Schedules/Elements of D4169.

 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Online registration opens approximately 8 weeks before the workshop and closes October 26. There is no fee to attend the workshop.

Students
? A student's fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID. All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the workshop. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at workshop.

 CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS

Workshop attendees interested in receiving .35 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the workshop, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the workshop.

 HOTEL INFORMATION

All meetings will be held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside, 700 South Florida Ave., Tampa, FL 33602. Reservations may be made by telephoning the hotel directly at 888-236-2427. Guests will be charged $250.00 (one time fee) for smoking in any guest room or balcony.

Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than Wednesday, October 12, 2011 ASTM rates are $159 single/double plus 12% tax (you must mention ASTM in order to receive a group rate). You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.

U.S. GOVERNMENT RATES: The Tampa Marriott Waterside has a limited number of rooms at the Government per diem rate of $101 single/double. To obtain a government rate, call the hotel directly at 800-228-9290. Please refer to the ASTM International government block to make your reservation.

IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

ADVANCE DEPOSIT: The Tampa Marriott Waterside requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation.

CONFIRMATION NOTICES: The Tampa Marriott Waterside Reservation Center sends confirmations by email.

CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Tampa Marriott Waterside, notice of cancellation must be received by 6:00pm on day of arrival.

INTERNET: The Tampa Marriott Waterside provides internet access for $14.95 per day. Guest rooms are not wireless. Hotel lobby and lounges have wireless capability and are complimentary.
