A Workshop on ASR Testing, Specification Management, and Mitigation from a Ready-Mix Perspective will be held Sunday, June 24, 2012. Sponsored by ASTM Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates, the workshop will be held at the Sheraton San Diego in San Diego, CA, in conjunction with the June standards development meetings of the committee.

Objective
Provide a forum for the discussion from a ready-mix concrete producer's perspective of ASR specifications and limits. The presentations will showcase the challenges that a producer faces when confronted with real world situations. Several examples will be discussed in which standard uses of ASR test methods and specification limits are in conflict with production means and methods.

Who Should Attend

• ASTM members who will vote on potential ASTM standards and test methods for ASR so they can gain perspective on challenges the documents present in concrete production.
• Producers who are unaware of the complexities of ASR specifications and test methods, especially new specifications currently under discussion.
• Members of ASTM C09.50 who are charged with drafting new documents so they understand potential unintended consequences of the documents.

Students – A student's fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID.

All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the workshop. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at workshop.

OVERFLOW HOTEL - A block of rooms is available at the San Diego Hilton Marina Airport Hotel, 1960 Harbor Island Dr., San Diego, CA 92101 (Saturday, June 23 - Friday, June 29). The group rate will be available until June 6th. Transportation will be provided.

Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than June 6, 2012. ASTM rates are $199 single/double plus 12.65% tax (you must mention ASTM in order to receive a group rate). You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.

U.S. GOVERNMENT RATES: The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate of $133.

IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE: Free transportation to and from the hotel is provided. Shuttle buses run from 5AM to Midnight every 15-20 minutes. Taxis cost approximately $6.
