Dates: Wednesday April 13 2016 - Friday April 15 2016
Location: Grand Hyatt San Antonio San Antonio, TX
Sponsored by: G04 Compatibility and Sensitivity of Materials in Oxygen Enriched Atmospheres
Deadline for Abstract Submittal: Monday December 15 2014
Papers are invited for the Fourteenth International Symposium on Flammability and Sensitivity of Materials in Oxygen-Enriched Atmospheres to be held April 13-15, 2016. Sponsored by ASTM Committee G04 on Compatibility and Sensitivity of Materials in Oxygen Enriched Atmospheres, the symposium will be held at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas, in conjunction with the April standards development meetings of Committee.
The purpose of this symposium is to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of peer-reviewed papers on topics related to fire hazards in oxygen, oxygen-enriched environments and other oxidizer systems. Relevant topics include oxygen fire hazards and incidents, materials flammability and compatibility, ignition mitigation strategies, and good practices that improve the safety and reliability of oxygen, oxygen-enriched and non-oxygen oxidizer systems and components.
Papers on any topic related to the objective are requested. Past symposia have elicited numerous papers on the following topics, just to name a few:
Who should attend?
This symposium will be attended by professionals representing diverse industries and backgrounds that share a common interest in oxygen and other oxidizers, including: (a) engineers and practitioners involved with the design and operation of oxygen and oxidizer systems, (b) scientists and engineers who are conducting research in oxygen, oxygen-enriched and other oxidizer systems, (c) managers who oversee oxygen, oxygen-enriched and oxidizer systems, (d) medical equipment designers, engineers, and managers, and (e) Scuba and other breathing gas equipment manufacturers and users. Past attendees have included technical personnel from military, government, academia, and all industries that use oxygen, which includes aerospace, medical, industrial gases, chemical processing, metals refining and manufacturing, power generation, and more. All individuals involved with the design and operation of oxygen and oxidizer systems will benefit from attending the symposium.
The language of the symposium will be English.
To participate in the symposium, presenters/authors must submit online the Abstract Submittal Form and attach a 250- 300 word preliminary abstract no later than December 15, 2014. Scroll to the top of the page to "Go to Abstract Submittal Form". To ensure your abstract was received into the ASTM database system, please email email@example.com stating that your abstract was submitted.
The abstract must include a clear definition of the objective and approach of the work discussed, pointing out material that is new, and present sufficient details regarding results. The presentation and manuscript must not be of a commercial nature nor can it have been previously published. Because a limited number of abstracts will be accepted, be sure that the abstract is complete to allow for careful assessment of the paper's suitability for this symposium. Symposium Chairman Eddie Davis will notify you via postal mail by February 13, 2015 of your paper's acceptability for presentation at the symposium. If the preliminary abstract is accepted, the presenter/author will be requested to submit a final camera-ready abstract several months before the symposium. The final abstracts will be distributed in an abstract booklet at the symposium.
Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Selected Technical Paper (STP), an online and printed, peer-reviewed publication for the international scientific and engineering community. After the final selection of abstracts has been approved, the ASTM Editorial Office will send authors' instructions via email only. Manuscripts to be peer reviewed for the STP are due online no later than July 10, 2015 at the ASTM Editorial Office. The corresponding author (the author who is the main contact with ASTM Headquarters) will receive a copy of his/her paper in portable document format (PDF). All published authors will have the opportunity to purchase reprints of their papers at a nominal cost.
ASTM publishes individual paper(s) in the online STP as they are finalized ASTM also publishes a printed book as a Selected Technical Papers (STP). (A minimum of ten papers is required for a printed STP.) Only those papers submitted by the manuscript due date will be included in the STP.
