Committee on Fasteners Approves New Standard on Hot-Dip Zinc Coating
ASTM International Committee F16 on Fasteners has developed a new standard, F 2329, Specification for Zinc Coating, Hot-Dip, Requirements for Application to Carbon and Alloy Steel Bolts, Screws, Washers, Nuts, and Special Threaded Fasteners. The standard, which is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee F16.03 on Coatings on Fasteners, covers the requirements for hot-dip zinc coating applied to carbon steel and alloy steel bolts, screws, washers, nuts, and special threaded fasteners applied by the hot-dip coating process.
“This standard was created to address aspects of hot-dip galvanizing products and processes, applying specifically to coated, ferrous fasteners that were not adequately addressed by other available standards,” says Quentin M. Smith, senior fastener engineer, technology development, Dana Corporation. The standard addresses coating on fasteners for general applications.
