Transmission Tower Corrosion Task Group To Present Workshop
Interested parties are invited to attend a workshop on transmission tower corrosion that will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, during the meetings of ASTM International Committee G01 on Corrosion of Metals at the Tampa Marriott Waterside in Tampa, Fla. The workshop is being held by Task Group G01.10.08 on Transmission Tower Control, part of Subcommittee G01.10 on Corrosion in Soils. The objective of the workshop is to provide an open forum for participants to:
• Discuss transmission tower corrosion problems, concerns and needs;
• Find out about other people’s corrosion problems and concerns;
• Compare notes and ask questions; and
• Find out about new testing techniques and methodologies.
The workshop will include a presentation by Mehrooz Zamanzadeh, Matco Assoiciates, Inc., on cathodic protection, poles, lattices, transmission towers and case histories.
In addition to the workshop, Task Group G01.10.08 will meet on Nov. 14. It will review standards that address test methods, corrosion control and coating requirements for the below grade portion of lattice/towers/poles, and identify steps needed to develop ASTM standards. All interested individuals are welcome and encouraged to attend both the workshop and the task group meeting. //
