Stakeholders Invited to Discuss Standards for In-Service Oil
Members of ASTM Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants initiated plans for new
standards on the analysis and monitoring of in-service oil in
San Diego in June.
Stakeholders are invited to the committees next meeting, Thurs.,
Dec. 6, 8:30-11:00 a.m. at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort and
Towers in Miami Beach, Fla. The meeting will address results of
the In-Service Diesel Oil/Inter-lab Cross Check Program and standards
development priorities. Participation is sought from individuals
proficient in oil-condition monitoring and in-service oil evaluation.
At the June meeting, Committee D02 formed Subcommittee D02.96
to develop standard terminology, test methods, and other activities
related to in-service lubricants. Among 20 in attendance, Garry
M. Basilone of UEC Laboratories, Monroeville, Pa., agreed to serve
as subcommittee chairman; Bryan Johnson, Arizona Public Service,
Tonopah, Ariz., as vice-chairman; and Wendell Barton, ExxonMobil
Marine Lubricants, Waller, Texas, as secretary.
