World Standards Day to Be Celebrated in October
The U.S. celebration of World Standards Day will be held Oct. 7 as part of the Oct. 5-8 forums, meetings and ceremonies that comprise World Standards Week 2009. Co-chaired by the American National Standards Institute and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the event serves to raise awareness of the importance of international standardization to the world economy and promote its role in meeting the needs of business, industry, government and consumers worldwide. ASTM International is the 2009 administrating organization.
CSI Introduces GreenFormat
The Construction Specifications Institute has introduced GreenFormat, a Web-based CSI format that provides a framework for identifying the sustainable properties of building products. Designers, constructors and building operators will be able to print reports on specific products based on their database queries. For more information, click here.
Risk Management Tool is Now Available
A risk management library in Spanish has been prepared by the International Code Council and the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction with support from the Regional Disaster Information Center for Latin America and the Caribbean.
