Committee on Sensory Evaluation Launches Work on Proposed Proficiency Guide
ASTM Committee E18 on Sensory Evaluation of Materials and Products is currently working on a proposed new standard that outlines the experience and education necessary to become a sensory professional. The proposed standard, WK7661, is tentatively titled Guide for Sensory Proficiency, and is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee E18.05 on Sensory Applications General.
According to Carolyn Corbett, CSS/Datatelligence, the proposed standard will cover education requirements (including continuing education), as well as a list of items a sensory professional should understand. Corbett says that the proposed standard will be a guide for sensory professionals, as well as for companies that need to hire sensory professionals.
