Committee on Building Seals and Sealants Invites Participation in Liquid-Applied Elastomeric Waterproofing Guide

ASTM Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants is seeking participation in the development of a new standard, tentatively titled Guide for the Use of Drainage Systems with Liquid-Applied Elastomeric Waterproofing. The proposed guide, which has been balloted once at the subcommittee level and is being balloted concurrently at the subcommittee and main levels, is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee C24.80 on Building Deck Waterproofing Systems. Up to this point, no guides have existed on this subject.

The purpose of the proposed guide is to help architects and specifiers design and specify drainage systems on plaza decks, horizontal surfaces, and below-grade walls. The guide will make recommendations for the selection and application of drainage systems on horizontal and vertical surfaces. Rigid and semi-rigid insulation boards, as well as rigid plastics, are among the systems being considered in the guide, while gravel and filter fabric systems are not considered.
