Users of ASTM Turbine Oil Rust Standard Sought

The D02.C0.02 subcommittee of ASTM Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants is collecting feedback on the use, interpretation, and variability of the turbine oil rust test, ASTM D 665, Standard Test Method for Rust-Preventing Characteristics of Inhibited Mineral Oil in the Presence of Water (2002).

The group is revising the standard and seeks comments from a wide audience, including non-ASTM members. Users of Standard D 665 can respond online through an electronic forum titled, “D02C002a Review of D665.” To obtain sign-on information, e-mail your name to Mark Okazaki, ME, staff scientist, ChevronTexaco, Richmond, Calif., or ASTM technical committee manager Dave Bradley.

“All feedback on this method is welcome,” says Okazaki, who chairs the subcommittee of lubricant manufacturing, additive supplier and test-instrument companies.

Contact Okazaki for further technical information (phone: 510/242-5978) or Bradley for ASTM meeting or membership details (phone: 610/832-8681). Committee D02 meets June 15-20 in Norfolk, Va. //
