ASTM Committee G02 on Wear and Erosion seeks paper submissions by May 31 for a Workshop on Galling Test Methods at its upcoming meeting, Nov. 6-8, in Miami Beach, Fla. The workshop will focus on different methods of testing materials for galling resistance, as well as fundamental aspects of galling behavior of materials.

The committee welcomes contributions from authors who perform galling tests or research on galling of materials. Papers discussing the comparison of different galling test methods, both analytical and experimental, are particularly encouraged. It is expected that the outcome of the workshop will be one or more proposed standards for galling tests.

Currently there is only one ASTM standard for galling resistance of materials: G 98, Standard Test Method for Galling Resistance of Materials, last updated 1996. Authors are requested to indicate whether they are submitting the abstract for an oral-only presentation, or for a written manuscript to also be submitted for publication in ASTM’s Journal of Testing and Evaluation. For written papers, final manuscripts will be due at the time of the meeting. //
