ASTM Task Group C24.20.11 on Aerosol Foam Sealants will officially
become new Subcommittee C24.61 on Aerosol Foam Sealants when Committee
C24 on Building Seals and Sealants meets June 18-21 in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada.
The new subcommittee will continue the task groups development
of a test method for yield. The yield value will provide the
end-user an estimate of the length of construction gap between
building materials that can be sealed with a single aerosol can
of foam, says Robert Braun, acting subcommittee chairman, and
R&D manager for Flexible Products Co., Joliet, Ill.
This new subcommittee will initially work on developing one additional
test method for post-dispensing expansion and two performance
specifications for two types of aerosol foam, Braun continues.
One performance specification is pertinent to polyurethane foam
sealant and the other to latex foam sealant. The new subcommittee
invites any interested user or testing facility for these products
to join.
