Subcommittee F25.06 Forms Seawater Anti-Biofouling Task Group

ASTM International Subcommittee F25.06 on Marine Environmental Protection has formed a task group to develop a new ASTM standard, currently designated WK5755, Specification for Design and Installation of Seawater Piping Anti-Biofouling Systems. The goal of the task group is to develop a consensus commercial standard that will address the combined problems of impaired flow and piping system performance as well as potential transfer of nonindigenous species within seawater systems. Subcommittee F25.06 is under the jurisdiction of Committee F25 on Ships and Marine Technology.

This work will be built upon the multitude of research and development, production and installation, and operation experiences of government and commercial sector projects in this area.  The first meeting of the task group will convene at 1 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.  All interested parties are invited to attend this meeting, as well as the Subcommittee F25.06 meeting being held the same day 8:00 – 10:00 a.m.
