Structural Wood Adhesives to Be the Subject of Wood Committee Workshop
“Performance of Structural Wood Adhesives: Issues Related to the ASTM Standards on Engineered Wood Products” is the subject of a workshop being sponsored by ASTM International Committee D07 on Wood. The workshop will be held from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, as part of the ASTM October Committee Week in Dallas, Texas. For those interested, a joint meeting of Subcommittee D07.02 on Lumber and Engineered Wood Products and Subcommittee D14.30 on Wood Adhesives will be held that day from 10:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Structural wood adhesives that meet ASTM standard requirements have been used for the manufacturing of engineered wood products for years. However, the effectiveness of the existing ASTM standards has been raised due to the wide range of built environment for which the engineered wood products are intended. This workshop reviews the following:
• Performance attributes of adhesives to engineered wood products;
• Adhesive issues from the engineered wood products perspective;
• ASTM and ISO standards on structural wood adhesives;
• Canadian structural wood adhesives and engineered wood products; and
• Structural wood adhesive performance from a regulatory perspective.
The workshop should be of interest to adhesive producers, engineered wood products manufacturers, and members of ASTM Committees D07, D14 on Adhesives, E06 on Performance of Buildings, and others.
More information will be posted on the workshop at Committee D07’s home page. //
