Task Group Forming to Develop Standards for Architectural (Non-Structural)
Metal Roof Systems
ASTM Subcommittee E06.57 (Performance of Metal Roof Systems) is
in the process of establishing a new task group to develop standards
pertaining to architectural (non-structural) metal roof systems.
These systems include steel, aluminum, and copper roof coverings
which are used in exposed applications on schools, churches, shopping
centers, and other commercial buildings. The standards to be developed
might include a standard specification, and a test method for
wind uplift resistance of the panel system and its attachment
to the structure.
This activity would expand the scope of the subcommittee which,
until now, has concentrated on standards related to structural
roof systems. Subcommittee E06.57 invites all interested parties
to participate in this standards development.
Please contact Subcommittee Chairman Mark Thimons, National Steel Corp., Technical Center, 1745 Fritz Dr., Trenton,
MI 48183 (734/676-3810) for information about membership, or date
and location of the next meeting. Subcommittee E06.57 is part
of Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings, which meets Oct. 22-25 in Orlando,
Fla. For further details, contact manager Steve Mawn, ASTM (610/832-9726; or e-mail: ). //
