Pigment Specialists Wanted to Lead ASTM Standards Development

ASTM Subcommittee D01.31 on Pigment Specification in Committee D01 on Paint and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications requests assistance from experts in the field of organic and inorganic pigments as well as extender pigments to chair ASTM standards-development task groups. Task group chairs will provide stewardship by maintaining existing ASTM standards or developing new standards.

Through the voluntary consensus of its members, Committee D01 develops standard test methods, practices, specifications, classifications and terminology for paint, varnish, lacquer, printing ink, and other coatings and materials in liquid, liquefiable, powder, or mastic form. It also creates standards for components, surface preparation, coating-substrate systems and paint-application tools.

To lead a task group, comment, or obtain further technical information, contact subcommittee chairman Bob Schiller, Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation, Oklahoma City, Okla. (phone: 405/775-5010). Committee D01 meets June 8-13 in Cleveland, Ohio. For meeting or membership details, contact Tim Brooke, director, Technical Committee Operations, ASTM International (phone: 610/832-9729). //
