Task Group to Create Consistency in ASTM and DIN Standards for
Moist SO2 Tests
Representatives from testing laboratories, equipment manufacturers
and others are sought to participate on Task Group G87 Moist
SO2, newly created within ASTM Subcommittee G01.05 on Laboratory
Corrosion Tests under Committee G01 on Corrosion of Metals.
The purpose of the new task group is to keep ASTM G 87 [Standard Practice for Conducting Moist SO2 Tests] consistent with DIN50018, after which it was modeled,
said Subcommittee Chairman Cindy Meade, National Exposure Testing,
Ohio, who will lead the task group. The industry will benefit
from this task group because companies using this test will be
able to perform one test which meets both G 87 and DIN50018. This
standard is used primarily in the fastener industry.
The task group first meets next month in Phoenix, Ariz., during
the May meetings of Committee G01.
